DVD Players and Recorders

THE PRODUCT:

DVD(Digital Versatile Disc) players are home electronic devices used to play DVDs. DVD recorders are devices used to record audio-visual signals onto a DVD.

THE STANDARD:

The California Energy Commission (CEC) adopted a maximum 3-watt standby mode standard for DVD players and recorders in 2004. Three states (New York, Oregon, and Connecticut) adopted standards based on the CEC standards. DOE is not currently required to set standards for these products.
