Standards have a Big Impact – Look at what others have been saying and reporting about standards:
The U.S. Department of Energy reports that standards will save $250-$300 billion. According to DOE’s October 2010 Multi-Year Program Plan, since 2008: “DOE has issued or codified new efficiency standards for more than twenty different products, which will save consumers between $250 and $300 billion on their energy bills through 2030.”

The U.S. Energy Information Administration released an analysis in May 2011 noting that additional appliance standards could significantly reduce residential energy use. According to the analysis conducted for the Annual Energy Outlook 2011, “Future appliance standards could eliminate growth in residential sector energy use through 2035”.

A May 2011 whitepaper by the Institute for Electric Efficiency describes the impacts of building codes and appliance standards on projected U.S. electricity consumption. By 2025, savings from appliance standards could reduce projected US electricity consumption by 5.6% in a moderate scenario and 10.5% in an aggressive scenario.
